In 1980 communist Czechoslovakia, Mara dreams of leaving her village to study in the city and become a pilot. But her father, a Ruthenian farmer and widower, insists she stays and works the land. As their village faces destruction because of a new water reservoir, their generational conflict intensifies, revealing the struggle between tradition, identity, and the desire for freedom against a backdrop of historical change.

Martin Gonda

Martin Gonda / director

Martin is a graduate of the Film and Television Faculty at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), where he earned his master’s degree in film and television directing. His graduation film PURA VIDA had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in the Cinéfondation section. He has recently completed his debut feature FLOOD and is currently developing a fiction film DEVILS and a mini-series ANGEL MAKERS.

Dominika Udvorková 

Dominika Udvorková / screenwriter

Dominika graduated in Screenwriting from the Film and Television Faculty at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU). She was the screenwriter of the film PURA VIDA, which had its international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in the Cinéfondation section. She has been part of the screenwriting team of several TV series produced by TV Markíza, such as Horná dolná, Mama na prenájom, and Sľub. Dominika also works as a dramaturgist at Radio Devín. The feature film FLOOD marks her debut as a screenwriter.

Martin Šuster

Martin Šuster / screenwriter

Martin graduated in Screenwriting from the Film and Television Faculty at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), under the guidance of Alena Bodingerová. He was the screenwriter of PURA VIDA, which had its international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in the Cinéfondation section. Since then, he has been working on advertising copy and contributing as an author to various projects. He is a co-screenwriter of the feature film FLOOD and is currently developing a feature film titled BLUE HELMET, directed by Pavel Korec.

Oliver Záhlava

Oliver Záhlava / DOP

Oliver is a graduate of the Film and Television Faculty at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), specializing in Cinematography. His portfolio spans a wide range of cinematographic work. In 2018, he was the cinematographer for PURA VIDA, directed by Martin Gonda, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019. He was also the main cinematographer for the TV series Specialisté. In 2019, he received the KAMERA 2019 award and is a member of the Slovak Association of Cinematographers (ASK). The feature film FLOOD is his feature film debut as a cinematographer. 

Katarína Krnáčová 

Katarína Krnáčová / Producer

She is an EAVE graduate and Producers on the Move participant; she was trained at various workshops such as Ex Oriente and Midpoint. Having a 15 years long experience in film production, in 2015 she founded her own production company Silverart where she produces film and TV projects. She was a Shooting Stars jury member at Berlinale. She is President of the Slovak Film and Television Academy/SFTA and a voting member of European Film Academy/EFA.

Tomáš Gič

Tomáš Gič / Producer

Tomáš Gič is a graduate of the Department of Audiovisual Production at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU) and also holds a degree in Law from Comenius University in Bratislava. He produced short films such as PURA VIDA, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in the Cinéfondation section, and the documentary IN SHALLOW WATER, which premiered at DOK Leipzig and many more. He currently works as a producer at Silverart. Tomáš produced Martin Gonda’s feature film FLOOD and is developing the documentary GLORIOUS UTOPIA, directed by Marek Moučka.
